In Milan there about 1-2 concerts every week, it depends, sometimes it's possibile to have no concerts in a week but usually we have at least 1 concert every week. Once we had more places to play, but in the past few years the mayor of Milan with other politicians decided to close some squats (in Italy the squats are called "centri sociali") and it was a big loss for this city.

Now the most "important" places to play are:
Cox 18

Dauntaun (my favorite place, it's in the basement of C.S. Leoncavallo, the guys who organize the shows here play in some bands in Milan, this "collective" is called Freego)

C.S. Cantiere (they also organize reggae and hip hop shows)

SGA

Also there are the booking agencies who organize big shows with foreign bands in clubs, but they do it for the money, and it's not what hc is about, so we can avoid to talk about them :)

Yes there's collaboration between the bands, but not only in Milan, I'd say in the whole country, the scene is pretty small, so a lot of bands are friends and people know each other, and if you need a show in a city that isn't your's you can ask to someone you know and it's not that hard to find a date, it's all a diy thing, you know.

Two or three years ago some guys released a diy book called 97-07, it's about these 10 years of punkhc music in Milan, with pictures and stuff.

Filmmaking - Positive Network

I recently came across some quality live clips of a gig I was at with all the crew from South Wales, so I contacted the filmmaker and asked for a bit of background:

I have always been into filming, I started off with a cheap camera then upgraded to an intermediate camera, and recently I saved up enough to buy the Panasonic GH1 which is what I have been using to film the shows on Positive Network. No one was filming bands and I think it is the best way to show how band can perform live and also capture the energy at shows in the UK.

I have a lot planned such as music videos, interviews and a mini documentary which will all feature soon on my vimeo account.

UK - Nottingham

Hardcore scene is ok in Nottingham, only a few bands mainly Almost Home.

There are limited venues but shows still happen but only around 3/4 a month if that. Thanks for the Memories does the majority of shows as well as NGHC, both sound dudes. People tend to travel to shows in Nottingham, as there isn't a huge scene anymore. It once was thriving with venues such as The Old Angel.

Japan

I usually go to the gigs in Tokyo. I think there are two types of gigs. One is made by bands or promoters like the label owner or the person who likes music, and the other is by the venue.

I think we have a good community in the Tokyo underground music scene even though I'm sure some bands hate some other bands. But I think this always happens in any area in the world. This is just my opinion but the bands who try to have any kind of HxC and punk show has real talent and always puts on a good show.
To be honest, I feel the japanese HxC scene is really small, so a lot of people seem to be helping each other.

I think FC5 and Endzweck are one of the most representative bands from our scene, because they have toured around the world and also have a big HxC Fest in Jan for the last 3 years and it's always really great.
This year, the headliners were Earth Crisis, The Bold, Abihinanda, Bring it down, First Blood,,,,and more bands!

I don't think the scene fights for change... but I'm sure many people in the scene dislike the authority, bad government problems, religion or something like that. Maybe the scene just fights against main stream music?

I don't think there is any information in english about the japanese HxC scene.
Alliance Trax is one of the big japanese HxC labels which promotes a lot of bands from other countries, so there're always newest information about Japanese HxC gigs, so check it out!
