Russia - Moscow 3

Russia - Moscow 2

“I’m from the Moscow region, but now live in the capital. I have a band called Rasplata. Now we are on the way to releasing new EP. Some of us are from Moscow, some from Zhukovsky.

Fight For Fun was a great band that played thrashcore from Zhukovsky. They have two demos and one of them they released on a diskette).

Their last record was the split with malaysian Take It Back.

The same guys and a few from Moscow also played in Rededrang (emo hardcore). They broke up after releasing split with Reflections Of Internal Rain.

The Zhukovsky scene formed mainly thanks to these guys from FxFxF.

Anton had his own label and distro - Fast ’n’ Easy - but now it is in the past. Vova plays guitar in Rasplata and also records different bands from the scene.

We also have a girls trio called Beer Babies.

If we have a look at the Moscow scene, we’ll see that many new bands have appeared and many have released new records.

Rearranged has a new self-titled 7’’

Argument 5.45 have released a new album, which exceeded (I think) their debut CD. And the artwork… one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen).

REKA (post-metal) released their 3rd album this year and they have a new vocalist Sebastien from France.

Members of REKA also played in screamo band Optimus Prime. They had their last show this summer and REKA played at the Fluff Fest this year.

I can also single out The Occult. This band is similar to Converge. They have a 4-song EP.

I want you to check out Invisible Border)) Their vocalist is a great man) He does charity shows mostly for orphan asylums and takes part in this movement.

I also want to direct you to…

On Burnt Ground (На выжженной земле)
Demo (2011)

Dice (Kaliningrad) with their self-titled EP

Beholder (Petrozavodsk) with demo CD

These bands are the ones I found interesting this year.

In Moscow there are not many bands who play fast music. We have a new band From The Depths (thrashcore). They recorded an EP a month ago.

Yeltsin Youth also plays fast.

I Don’t Care (thrashcore) broke up, but has some recordings.

I do vocals for a new band with members of From The Depths and Rasplata. We will play powerviolence.

In grindcore and crust I can single out almost nothing except these bands from St.Petersburg…

Zorka (grindcrust) - split up but left self-titled album and split with belorussian Brud Krou.

Distress (d-beat)

Коматоz

There are some bands which have not long started…

DoublexCrossed (old school)

Rooftops (pop-punk)

Leaftrace (melodic hardcore)

All the bands can be found on funkysouls."

Russia - Petrozavodsk

“I want to talk a bit about the scene in Petrozavodsk. In this city, the scene has always been very well developed, though in recent times it begins to subside. I don’t know what this is due to.

In our city there are groups…

Coasta (melodic hardcore)

Belies (hardcore / emo)

Evolet (post metal)

Minuala (dark-hardcore)

The Minc (d-beat/raw-punk)

Inkcoma (screamo, post -rock)

Stay Fresh RIP (hardcore-punk/youth crew)

Pass the Rubicon (hardcore)

Dies Alliensis (post-hardcore)

Beholder (hardcore)

Apache (hardcore-punk/youth crew)

Antimelodix (brutal punk)

Örk Bastards (thrash as fuck)

Many of them have been on a tour / mini-tour of Russia. The city has been visited by a lot of groups, not only from Russia but from other countries. In our city Xborlandx is a very good promoter.

Petrozavodsk is very often linked with St. Petersburg because the city is close (by Russian standards). The guys who live in Petrozavodsk and St. Petersburg talk regularly, visit each other at home, at concerts, just hang out together and organize all sorts of rallies.

In Petrozavodsk there are zines too…

All Together

My Riot Inward

My Dad Dog/Moj Papa Sobaka

X and Without Faith also.”

Russia 12

Russia 11

"I'm from Moscow, so I can say that I have seen almost all the bands that represent the hc scene well - it's a good tradition for every hc band in every area to come to play in the capital.

I advise you to check out...

Next Round (St. Petersburg)

RAY (Moscow)

What We Feel RIP (Moscow)

Argument 5.45 (Moscow)

5 Corners (St. Petersburg)

Breakwar is a hardcore/metalcore band, which gave birth to the hc scene in Moscow almost 10 years ago. Besides music, their front-man Roman was involved in gig organization for US and european hardcore and metal bands - it was very hard at that time in our country.

Fatality Records is one of the biggest hc labels in the RF nowdays. They organize gigs, help bands to record their albums and have some kind of a distro. And they do all this stuff not only in moscow, but in the whole country."

Saint-Petersburg, Russia (Part 4)

Saint-Petersburg, Russia (Part 3)

"Enjoy Crap
Old school hardcore band with members of Part of You. After releasing demo they split up too.

The Bright Side
New Youth Crew band. They just played several concerts and released demo a couple of days ago.

Tigerface
Middle-temped hardcore from Saint-Petersburg with influences of Stop and Think, D.Y.S. and even Black Sabbath.

Волчья яма (Volchya Yama, Wolf Pit)
New Saint-Petersburg thrash hardcore band with members of Sandinista!, Nervion, Frostbite and Black Sheep. They have already played a few shows and have released a live recording. Sounds like Pulling Teeth, Swamp Thing etc.

Warborn
The band gathered together for the first time in autumn’08. In autumn’09 three remaining band members locked up in a rehearsal room to record 5 raw songs within 6 hours with help of two metalheads (thanks to Leha and Grisha). Some time after the record was uploaded to the Internet and recieved positive and negative responses. For the moment Warborn is rehearsing some new obscure material in a renewed line-up, getting ready for the concerts and more.

Dottie Danger
Dottie Danger is post-hardcore band from Saint-Petersburg which was formed in 2005. They have released an EP and two albums. Dottie Danger is one of the most experienced and interesting bands from Saint-Petersburg.

Ways of Revenge
New band formed by members of The Rave with female vocals.

Gorilla Troops
Awesome new band from Saint-Petersburg. Hellish mix of Thrash Metal speed combined with Crossover sound and Hardcore power. They already played several crazy shows in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow and made themselves a name in the Russian Scene.

Monkey Wrench
Warzone-style hc with Oi! influences."

Saint-Petersburg, Russia (Part 3)

Saint-Petersburg, Russia (Part 2)

"One of the best Russian Hardcore bands. Members of Sandinista positioned themselves as “Dark Hardcore”. The band split up because of the murder of Timur Kacharava who was the guitarist of Sandinista. The tragedy occurred at 13 November 2005 when group of neo-nazis attacked Timur and his friends. Timur was a member of antifascist and anarchist community of Saint-Petersburg. His words have become some kind of hymn of the Russian Hardcore community – “Who if not we? When if not now?”. Sandinista recorded an album “Libertad Tu Eres Mi Cuerpo”

Cut’n’Run was formed in Spring 2004. Influenced by Trash Horror movies and such bands as Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, Reaching Forward and Shark Attack they recorded a 5-song demo which has got positive responses. From that moment Cut’n’Run started an active concert life and wrote some new songs that were released on a split CD with band Vyshka! Next record was released in April 2006 – another split, now with German band Tackleberry. The next year Cut’n’run released another demo. They split up in Autumn 2008, after releasing their final 11-song recording.

A band formed by members of 5 Uglov, ‘Til I Die, Engage at Will, What We Feel. Next Round plays Old School NYHC. Formed in 2004 they released 2 albums Moi Udej’deniya (My Beliefs) and Svyataya Krov’ Trebuet Vozmezdiya (Holy Blood Demands Revenge). One of the most experienced bands in the Russian scene.

The Saint-Petersburg-Kronstadt band Engage at Will was founded in 2003 from the splinters of 2 groups: hardcore-pioneers ‘Til I Die (Saint-Petersburg) & Da Kuchy (Kronstadt). They are playing straight & powerful hardcore which combines melodic lines & metalized riffs, supplemented with street’s well-written lyrics. In 2006 the band recorded the album “Pravosudie” (“Justice”) self-released on their own label EAW records. In 2008 EAW recorded a “2 way split” CD with Moscow band xHARAMx which was released on EAW records & Moscow sXe label xHARDTIMESx

Young Hardcore band with tough guitar sound and straight lyrics about life on the street. Wins’ Pain formed by members of Komatoz, AntiPerfect and Two Minutes Older. They released a self-titled EP in 2010.

Self-Defense are a Tough Metal/Hardcore band formed in late 2008. They released an EP “Justification” and now they are writing material for LP.

Band formed in spring 2008 by former members of Cut’n’Run. The Rave plays Modern Hardcore with some 90’s New School influences. Released album and played show in support of their new EP “Club 27” in May with At Daggers Drawn.

Black Sheep are a Modern Hardcore band with The Effort, More Than Life influences. Existed from 2009 till 2010, played a few shows, released demo and then unfortunately split up.

Formed in 2008 Part of You played Youth Crew Hardcore, they released a demo in 2009. Unfortunately now band don’t exist."
